The Oxford made some changes last year by splitting the word of the year honours between the UK and US, but this year one word ruled all, that word is ‘selfie’ .

The use of the word has increased by 17000% according to the Oxford Dictionaries editors, the word beat contenders like twerking, bitcoin and binge-watch. The word was discovered in 2002 in an Australian forum by Oxford University Press.

The word isn’t included in the Oxford Dictionary, but its in the online dictionaries website.
