The Nokia board has approved the sale of the Finnish company of its devices and services unit. Many are sad to see that the iconic company is gone, but 99.7% of shareholders agreed to the sale.

Nokia CEO Stephen Elop who was an ex-Microsoft employee will be returning to the company early next year to run an expanded services and devices team. The sale of Nokia is worth $7.2 billion, this deal started out as a partnership in 2011 when Nokia agreed to ship devices running Windows Phone and now has officially seen the company being sold to Microsoft.
