The name that’s been with us since our first phone, Nokia was one of the pioneers behind the smartphone martket and after the $7.2 billion bid by Microsoft that Nokia accepted we’ll never get another Nokia branded smartphone ever again.

The purchase states that the brand that will be used is the Microsoft name on future devices and the “Asha” and “Lumia” trademark will be part of Microsoft, not the Nokia name. The name may only be used on featurephones with a 10 year license agreement.

Former CEO of Nokia Stephon Elop will go in house and will be joined by 32 000 other employees under Microsoft, Elop will be part of the Microsoft’s devices team.
