Chromecast Google’s media streaming device which is in the hands of many people that let’s users stream content from Youtube, Google Play store and Netflix has released an update that blocks the streaming of content saved locally.

The company doesn’t want third-party developers to enable the dongle to stream locally saved videos off your phone, the update has broken an app called Aircast an app that let’s users stream locally saved media files, Dropbox files or Google Drive straight to TV.

Its not hard to understand that Google is trying to bring in big players like HBO GO and Hulu into a secure space, where they can stream content to users with a subscription of some sort and Google ranking up the ad dollars on the side this just might be one of the strategies. For now let’s hope that someone finds another way around the code.
