Ubuntu was set on a mission a month ago to raise $32 million for its Ubuntu edge smartphone and for the first 5,000 backers would receive a phone for $600, while everyone thereafter would need to pay $830. Limited tiers of $625, $675, and $725 were eventually added to the mix.

The ambitious goal wasn’t met it was missed by 19M, but in the end they got 27 000 backers and raised $12.8 million which will be refunded back to the backers. The crowdfunding was done through Indiegogo.
