Boxee a small company that makes set-top boxes has been bought by Samsung for a reported $50M.

The news came from the Israeli site The Marker, Boxee was looking for a second round of funding before it decided to go looking for a buyer. Its obvious that Boxee’s software is what’s key which will be utilized in Samsung’s future Smart TVs, as the company has a problem when it comes to simplifying the UI when adding more features.

The 50 employees Boxee has will remain, Boxee failed to comment when it was asked about its purchase.
