Chances are that the next major release of
Android, believed to be codenamed Key Lime Pie,
will be announced on May 15 during the annual
Google I/O developer conference. What we’re also
pretty sure about is that only the best of all
Android devices on sale today will get it, while
low-end and most mid-range models will be stuck
with previous releases indefinitely.
Samsung, in particular, is expected to update the
Galaxy S 4, Galaxy S III, and Galaxy Note II
smartphones to Android 5.0. The Samsung
Galaxy Note 8.0 and Galaxy Note 10.1 tablets are
bound to get it as well, according to sources for
Sam Mobile. Owners of many other devices,
however, won’t be so fortunate. The Samsung
Galaxy Note and Galaxy S II, for example, are
allegedly absent from the Android 5.0 list, just like
the Samsung Galaxy S III mini and Samsung
Galaxy Grand.
In case you own a Samsung Galaxy smartphone,
perhaps you might want to take a look at the list
below and see whether it is expected to get an
Android 5.0 update. Note that the list is anything
but finalized, but we doubt that things will
change much until May.
