Nvidia and it’s Tegra 4 chip is about to set the mobile world on fire with its quad-core record breaking benchmarks, but Nvidia also announced something else for us today… Project SHIELD.

Project Shield is a handheld gaming system that looks like an Xbox 360 controller with a 5″ inch 1280 x 720 resolution ‘retinal’ multitouch display attached too it, Project SHIELD will be able to access all of the games available on the Google Play Store. You can stream your PC games to the controller, if you’re in the mood for a bit of video the device can play 4K videos and you can output the video via a HDMI port at the back.

This is just a teaser for now as the device is still in development, but NVIDIA is looking to release the console in Q2
